Melanie
Fain finds inspiration for her beautiful etchings from the seven
wooded acres around her home in the Hill Country of Texas.
Drawing from images of the nature she observes every day,
Melanie offers collectors an intimate view of birds, botanicals, and
fascinating insects.
Following the ‘less is more’ philosophy of her mentor, Thomas
Quinn, Melanie creates work with a beautiful simplicity that she
terms ‘a visual haiku:’ A
bird perches on a branch. A
flower floats in space. A
hand-tied fly hovers, waiting for a fish to jump.
Since
1982, Melanie’s fine art etchings have garnered top awards and
honors throughout the
United States
. Her work can be found
in private collections worldwide, including those of Southwest
Airlines owner, Herb Kelleher. Corporate
collectors include Wells Fargo Bank,
Southwestern Bell
, and King Ranch.
Melanie’s hand-colored etchings and watercolors (popular among
naturalists and sportsmen alike) have received accolades at the
prestigious Birds in Art and Art of the Animal
Kingdom exhibits. She
has shown her work at
America
’s most distinguished wildlife art shows including Southeastern
Wildlife Exposition, Easton Waterfowl Festival, NatureWorks, and the
Plantation Wildlife Art Festival, where she was the Featured Artist
in 2001.
Melanie Fain’s etchings are original art and are produced
today in the same way Rembrandt created his etchings of perfection.
All Melanie’s works are hand-pulled and hand-colored.
Her limited editions maintain the highest intaglio print
quality. Each Melanie
Fain etching is hand-colored, signed, and numbered with the
impression number over the total number of prints in the edition.
