Tom Balderas

California native Tom Balderas was born in Torrance and raised in the gorgeous Southern California sunlight.  Growing up near the ocean inspired a love for nature and the beauty of the outdoors that continues to this day.

Photography, film, drawing, and painting were part of Tom’s life from an early age.  After graduating from Loyola Marymount University with a film degree, Tom worked at NBC.  During his years in television, Tom Balderas worked on many made-for-TV movies.  Later he became director and production manager for an antique auctions network.

All Tom’s off duty hours in Hollywood were devoted to his passion for painting and drawing.  During Tom’s NBC years, he studied under master painter and teacher, Joseph Mendez.  Today Tom continues to learn, stretch and grow as a painter.  His greatest joy is working en plein air and continuing to capture the light and magic of the great outdoors.  His figurative work also  is alive with light and love of landscape.

Many of Tom’s paintings and sketches can be found in private collections.   Tom Balderas is a member of the California Art Club.
